General Information

Most classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis, so apply early. All registrations received before the opening date of registration will be treated as having arrived on the opening date. Field’s End accepts applications until a class is filled. Once a class fills, Field’s End will maintain a waiting list.

Field’s End will promptly notify applicants who get into a class and send refunds to those who don’t.

Once accepted into a class, tuition is nonrefundable unless Field’s End can fill your cancellation with another candidate.

No reimbursements are given for classes missed.

The class may be cancelled at the discretion of Field’s End.  Any fees paid for a cancelled class will be refunded.

Occasionally Field’s End will hold a class that does not fill on a first-come basis. Instead, the criterion for admission is the quality of a writing sample each applicant must submit by a specified deadline.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes meet in the main conference room of the Bainbridge Public Library. For directions, click here.

Refunds

Field’s End will refund your tuition if Field’s End cancels a class or if you apply for but are not accepted into a class.

If you are accepted into a class and later decide to cancel, Field’s End will refund your tuition only if Field’s End can fill your place from a class waiting list.

Field’s End is unable to refund tuition if, as a result of unforeseen circumstances, (e.g. illness, family emergency or weather) you are prevented from attending one or more sessions of a class.

Tuition Assistance

Field’s End has established the Jack Olsen (Memorial) Writers’ Assistance Fund to honor the late Bainbridge Island author. The fund is designed to assist writers who need financial help.

If you cannot afford the full tuition, this fund might cover part of your cost (up to 60% depending on circumstances). Submit your request for tuition assistance as early as possible because classes (except where specified) fill on a first-come basis.

To apply for Tuition Assistance, follow the directions on the registration form (do not use Paypal). Field’s End will review your request and notify you of the decision as soon as possible. Your deposit will be returned if the class has already filled or if you decline any offered assistance.

You can receive one tuition assistance grant per academic year (e.g. September 2009 – August 2010). If you receive tuition assistance, Field’s End might ask you to help with classroom support.

Please note that tuition assistance is not available for the conference or special events.

The Unexpected

Bad weather or unusual circumstances might force Field’s End to cancel a session. If so, Field’s End will try to e-mail or telephone all registrants at least two hours before the scheduled class time.

When class resumes, the instructor will schedule a make-up session.
